The Opportunity

Your job would take place at Friske's Farm Market, a popular "agri-tourism" destination complete with a fruit stand, bakery, cafe', gift shop, and more. You should expect to work 36-40 hours per week (with some opportunities for overtime during a few of our busiest weeks) with pay starting at $10/hour + tips, and the possibility of raises or a bonus. Summer and fall at the market are very busy, so you should expect an intense and exciting environment.

Requirements include being at least 18 years old, completion of high school, and a willingness to commit to providing an exceptional customer experience. Please express interest to by January 31st, 2019, and email your application to by March 1st 2019.


The Options

  • Assistant Baker, May 15-Nov. 1:

    At our Market, the bakery is one of our most popular attractions. We are in need of a person who can manage this fast-paced, quality driven aspect of our market. This person would be required to ensure high standards of cleanliness, consistency, and leading. 2 years professional baking experience ideal, but not required. This manager would have the opportunity to gain work experience with various skills, including taking inventory and ordering/receiving supplies, creating goals and to-do lists, delegating to other team members, and generally making sure that what needs to be done will get done! Starting wage $12/hour.

  • Cafe' staff, June 1-Nov. 1: The Cafe' position is also one of the more demanding positions, and is suitable for someone who has great project management skills (including working under pressure for periods of time), and is passionate about customer service and really good food. Starting wage $10/hour

  • Support staff, at least 4 months between June 1 and Nov. 1: This position has slightly less project management responsibility than the bakery or cafe' positions. Tasks can include anything from crafting donuts, cashiering, cleaning, re-stocking, waiting on guests, providing support to the bakery and cafe, and a lot more. Starting wage $10/hour

The Housing

As a perk of your employment, you will be given the chance to share an apartment with other employees in our farm housing at our nearby farm (valued at $300/month per person). While the building itself houses both genders, you would be sharing an apartment with those of the same gender. This is approximately a 3 minute drive from the market, so a very short commute to your job. Utilities (including wifi and A/C), furniture, appliances (including washers and dryers), and basic kitchen utensils are included for your use while you are employed. You will be required to respect the housing and keep it clean, provide your own transportation (you may possibly be able to make arrangements with roommates), and provide your own meals.

You will be living in the beautiful tourist destination that is Northern Michigan (while still tucked away from the hustle and bustle). Expect beautiful lakes, amazing sunsets, awesome stars (maybe even the Northern lights), and dozens of free or inexpensive attractions to visit nearby.
