New Year, New Adventure.
Do you want to experience living independently with roommates (a.k.a. new best friends), without spending a mini fortune on rent?
Do you want to try living life in a beautiful tourist destination, about 8 minutes from the beach? (... and 90 minute drive to this year's APEX location...)
Do you want to learn valuable trade, professional, and/or personal skills, while earning money to pay for school?
If you relate, then we have AN opportunity for you!
Your internship would take place at Friske's Farm Market, a popular "agri-tourism" destination complete with a fruit stand, bakery, cafe', gift shop, and more. You should expect to work 36-40 hours per week (with some opportunities for overtime during a few of our busiest weeks) with pay starting at $9/hour + tips, and the possibility of raises or a bonus. Summer and fall at the market are very busy, so you should expect an intense and exciting environment, where the culture is positive and optimal for growth.
Requirements include being at least 18 years old, completion of high school, and a willingness to commit to providing an exceptional customer experience. Email your application to email@example.com by March 1, 2017.
- Bakery staff, June 1-Nov. 1: The bakery position is one of our most demanding positions. It is suitable for someone who has great project management skills, lots of energy and a passion for baking quality goods! Mainly includes production in our from-scratch bakery, as well as monitoring inventory. Starting wage $10/hour
- Cafe' staff, June 1-Nov. 1: The Cafe' position is also one of the more demanding positions, and is suitable for someone who has great project management skills (including working under pressure for periods of time), and is passionate about customer service and really good food. Starting wage $10/hour
- Support staff, at least 4 months between June 1 and Nov. 1: This position has slightly less project management responsibility than the bakery or cafe' positions. Tasks can include anything from crafting donuts, cashiering, cleaning, re-stocking, waiting on guests, providing support to the bakery and cafe, and a lot more. Starting wage $9/hour
Timing may be negotiated slightly before committing to come, but we require that you respect your commitment once made, because we really rely on you! Please indicate on your application which of these areas interest you. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions!
As a perk of your internship, you will be given the chance to share an apartment with other interns in our farm housing at our nearby farm. This is approximately a 3 minute drive from the market, so a very short commute to your job. Utilities (including wifi), furniture, appliances, and basic kitchen utensils are included for your use while you are an intern. Interns will be required to respect their housing and keep it clean, provide their own transportation, and provide their own meals.
Address: 11027 Doctor Road, Charlevoix, MI 49729. Closest airport is TVC.
You will be living in the beautiful tourist destination that is Northern Michigan (while still tucked away from the hustle and bustle). Expect beautiful lakes, amazing sunsets, awesome stars (maybe even the Northern lights), and dozens of free or inexpensive attractions to visit nearby.
We love our Biblically-solid church.
Two test centers within an hour drive:
North Central Michigan College (CLEP)
Northwestern Michigan College (CLEP and DSST)
Many fairs and festivals happen over the summer and fall nearby... Traverse City National Cherry festival, Charlevoix Venetian festival (best fireworks display ever), Charlevoix Applefest, and more.
Lake Michigan is only about an 8 minute drive from the farm, and Torch Lake is about 15 minutes away. (If you've never heard of Torch Lake, do yourself a favor and just Google it.)
